Stevie winners will be celebrated during virtual awards ceremony on June 30

The Celebration News Magazine and publication editor J.R. Rupp were named the winner of a Bronze Stevie® Award in the Best Newsletter category in The 19th Annual American Business Awards® today.

The American Business Awards are the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the awards will be virtually presented to winners during a live event on Wednesday, June 30.  Tickets for the virtual event are now on sale.

More than 3,800 nominations – a record number – from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Startup of the Year, Executive of the Year, Best New Product or Service of the Year, Marketing Campaign of the Year, Virtual Event of the Year, and App of the Year, among others.  Celebration News was nominated in the Best Newsletter Category.

The Celebration News magazine is the official newsletter of Celebration, Florida, conveying information to both the residential and commercial entities of the community. The publication is a one-stop source for all things related to the community, from a daily and monthly calendar of events, to details on upcoming events, features on local groups, organizations and residents.

Celebration is a thriving and diverse community that is constantly in the forefront and it is that forward thinking and thirst for information that requires a publication indicative of the community. Equally important to the information contained in the publication is the ability for residents to feel connected with their neighbors and the community. It is with that premise that the publication always features a community cover image.

The community’s Communication & Lifestyle Director, J.R. Rupp serves as editor of the publication, with Shawn Schofield as publisher, graphic design by Christina Cassaro and advertising by P2O Publishing. Feedback from judges included:

  • “Amazing work! Making everyone in their community feel connected to one another is astonishing.”
  • Nicely done! I appreciate the variety of news along with the recurring content. From reminders to wash the outside of your home and fences – complete with detailed instructions – to a calendar of events, there’s a little something for everyone.I would encourage your team to continue to showcase diversity within your community so it may be viewed as welcoming to all.
  • This newsletter really demonstrates the theme: a monthly reminder that Celebration is more than just a name or place, it’s a way of life. Amazing range of original content, public schedules of events, meetings, police and park information along with subjects that touch on individual contributions (students, bands, etc.) I was prompted to look up more information and found this is a town of less than 10,000 population! The News is posted online, so that’s a great way to share these stories more.

More than 250 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.

“The American economy continues to show its resilience, and as we’re poised on the beginning of what should be a phenomenal period of growth, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of a wide range of organizations and people over the past 18 months,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Gallagher.  “This year’s Stevie-winning nominations in The American Business Awards are testament to the ingenuity, the commitment, the passion, the adaptability, and the creativity of the American people.  We look forward to celebrating this year’s winners during our virtual ceremony on June 30.”

About Celebration

The Celebration Community was formed with the concept of building a better place and a better way to live. There’s a reason Celebration is not a town, but a community in every positive sense of the word. In order to draft a blueprint for fulfilling such a vision and oversee its creation, the Walt Disney Company founded The Celebration Company. Utilizing the combined experience of a specialized group of world-renowned city and social planners, as well as the best architects of our time, The Celebration Company conceived five principles that would guide every aspect of the community’s creation. Those five guiding principles known as the Celebration Cornerstones, consist of: Sense of Community, Sense of Place, Focus on Technology, Focus on Education and Focus on Health.
