Founders Day highlights November events lineup - Celebration, Florida

It’s November and there is plenty to be thankful for in the community. We are on the cusp of the holiday season, which was made perfectly clear by some who were decorating for Christmas in the wee hours following Halloween. (OK, we kid, sort of).

This month is highlighted by Founders Day, as the community celebrates the 23rd anniversary of our first residents calling Celebration home.

Be sure to swing by our monthly culinary offering, Food Truck Friday, on November 8. While there you’ll want to grab a spot on the Great Lawn and catch Small Foot on the big screen.

The following week we welcome and encourage all Celebration residents to join us for some Founders Day fun. Lakeside Park will be the place to be on Friday, November 15 for our Founders Day carnival and concert.

From 5-9 p.m. everyone is invited to take a trip down the boardwalk as Lakeside Park is transformed into a landlocked seaside boardwalk. Enjoy boardwalk fare, authentic midway games and carnival attractions. Get a bird’s eye view of the community from atop the Ferris wheel, or spin until your hearts’ desire on the tea cups or cyclone swing.

A seaside excursion wouldn’t be complete without the perfect soundtrack to accompany it. No worries, we’ve got your covered! At 7:30 p.m. the Great Lawn comes alive with a special performance by the Atlantic City Boys. The Atlantic City Boys are four dynamic lead singers who have wowed audiences from Las Vegas to Disney World to Atlantic City. They now lend their world-class vocals to the rock-n-roll harmonies made famous by groups like The Drifters, The Four Seasons and many more. This exciting show, which includes a live band, brings the music of Broadway hits right to you.

Residents are invited to bring along their own chairs or blankets to stake out their location on the Great Lawn for the show. A limited number of tables with seating will also be available at no charge and on a first come basis.

The Friday activities are for Celebration residents and their invited guests only. Residents are encouraged to visit Town Hall to update or obtain a CROA ID prior to the 15th. Residents presenting a CROA ID for admission will receive a $5 food voucher to be used that evening, as well as $5 in carnival game tickets. Additional game tickets will be available for purchase. (Please note, only residents in possession of a CROA ID will receive the food voucher and game tickets. Vouchers and tickets will not be distributed to other members in the party who do not have a CROA ID).

The following morning start your day off right with our Founders/Veterans parade. Stepping off from Lakeside Park at 10 a.m., the march will follow a route along Front Street, turning right onto Market Street and then left onto Celebration Ave., concluding at Founders Park.

At 11 a.m. everyone in the community is invited to join the Celebration Veterans Club at Founders Park for the annual Veterans ceremony. This moving tribute and ceremony honors our Veterans, both past and present and is an ideal opportunity to thank those who have sacrificed for our nation.

Following the ceremony, it’s time to get ready for your close-up with the community photo. This year’s photo will take place at Founders Park at noon. Be sure to stick around following, to enjoy some light refreshments and pleasant conversation.

We close out the month on November 22, so grab your capes and join us on the Great Lawn for movie night at 6:30 p.m., as we present Captain Marvel. This is a resident only event and a valid CROA ID required.

We promise December will be just as exciting, but we’ll cover that in the next issue. If you want to get a head start on your planning, be sure to visit www.celebration.fl.us and click on the events tab for all the latest information.
