Founders Day 2021 celebrates the 25th anniversary of the community’s first residents and in recognizing that milestone; three days of engaging activities, all tied to one of the community’s cornerstones, are scheduled, including a headlining performance by a national recording artist.
Sponsored by Island Village at Celebration, Founders Day Weekend, held November 11-13, kicks off on Thursday, November 11 with the Founders Dash, sponsored by AdventHealth.
This evening trek recognizing the health cornerstone starts at 6:30 p.m. and will start and end at the Celebration Community Field Complex (CCFC). Runners and walkers are welcome on the 5K route, while those not participating are invited to volunteer or cheer on those who are.
What’s unique about the Dash is you don’t have to be physically in Celebration to participate, as a virtual option is also being offered. Registration for both the in-person and virtual races can be made at celebrationparksandrec.com. The $50 fee includes a commemorative shirt, finisher’s medal and race bib. For additional information about the Dash or sign up to be a volunteer, contact the lifestyle office at 407-566-1200 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Friday, it’s a resident only event inside Lakeside Park, where the technology cornerstone will be on display. Highlighting the evening will be a Silent DJ Party on the Great Lawn. We provide the illuminated wireless headsets you supply the fun. Choose between different music options as on-site DJ’s keep you dancing and grooving alongside your friends and neighbors.
But wait, there’s more! Residents will also be able to enjoy authentic boardwalk midway games, carnival rides and live music as we ‘party in the park.’ The fun goes from 5 – 9 p.m.
On Saturday, we begin with the sense of place cornerstone and our Founders/Veterans parade in the community. Stepping off at 10 a.m., the march begins at Lakeside Park, moving along Front Street to Market Street, turning onto Celebration Avenue, before ending at Founders Park.
Once at the park learn about the sacrifices that the brave men and women of our Armed Forces gave us with the annual Veterans Ceremony and changing of the flag. Held in conjunction with the Veterans Club of Celebration, this event, along with the Memorial Day Flag Ceremony, are excellent ways to say ‘thank you’ to our Veterans. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m.
The Veterans Ceremony, along with a collection of Celebration history that will be on display at Town Hall prior to and during Founders Weekend, embraces our education cornerstone.
Later Saturday we put the proverbial bow on the package, as we come together to honor the sense of community cornerstone with a community celebration.
We are thrilled to announce that national recording artist Caroline Jones will be headlining our celebration.
Declared one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Country Artists You Need to Know” as “an ambitious, entrepreneurial guitar heroine primed to bring back the pop-country glory of the Nineties,” singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Caroline Jones co-produced her EP, Chasin’ Me (October 18, 2019/ Mailboat Records), with Grammy and Academy Award-winning producer Ric Wake (Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston). The talented independent artist wrote all tracks of the EP except for “Gulf Coast Girl,” written for her by Jimmy Buffett and Mac McAnally, and her most recent single “All of the Boys,” co-written with Zac Brown. In March 2020, Caroline released a special EP for “All of the Boys" containing multiple new mixes of the song – Album, Coffee House, Country Dance – to celebrate her love for music, spanning genres.
In 2020, Caroline toured with country stars Sara Evans and Lee Brice, made her return to the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage, and appeared in a moving virtual concert as part of Global Citizen and the World Health Organization’s “Together At Home" Series. This followed an impressive 2019, during which Caroline toured with Zac Brown Band for the third consecutive year, supported Kenny Chesney’s 21-date Songs for the Saints tour, joined an all-star female cast in support of Trisha Yearwood’s Every Girl on Tour, and made her late night debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Throughout 2018, Jones toured with Jimmy Buffett & the Eagles, Zac Brown Band & OneRepublic, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Vince Gill, and Kip Moore. Prior to that, she shared the stage with Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, and Toby Keith at the Trying to Reason hurricane relief benefit concert, which led to a charity single release with Buffett, a distribution deal with his Mailboat Records, and ultimately the release of “Gulf Coast Girl (ft. Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, Lukas Nelson and Mac McAnally as “The Pelicanaires”)”.
When she is not on the road touring or in the studio, Caroline is also the host of Sirius XM’s Art & Soul where she sits down with top singer-songwriters for intimate acoustic performances and conversations about their craft and creating the perfect song. The Saturday evening fun will kick off at 4 p.m. with John Frinzi and Friends, followed by Caroline’s performance at 7:30 p.m. Immediately following her performance, turn your sights upward as we paint the night sky with a special 25th anniversary fireworks spectacular. Look for additional details in the near future.
