Garden Club year in review

Our Garden Club year came to an abrupt halt in March thanks to COVID-19. I hope that by the time you read this, we will be starting to get back to normal life. Our events in March and April did not take place, hopefully we can reschedule for next year. Our last event in May will be the presentation of the wreath at Memorial Day on May 23.

Garden Club has had an eventful and enjoyable year. Our program has been varied and entertaining with talks on caladiums, bats, hummingbirds, orchids and floral design. We have enjoyed trips to a Caladium Farm, Disney Wildlife Preserve, Leu Gardens and De Leon Springs Old Sugar mill to eat pancakes!

Many thanks to everyone who purchased pine straw during our sale in March, thanks to Nu-leaf for delivering so efficiently. Proceeds from this and previous sales have enabled us to give four $1000 scholarships to graduating High School seniors. During the course of the year, we have also donated money to Lifelong Learning and purchased items to improve the gardens at Celebration K-8 school and the Memorial Garden.

After seven years as President of Garden Club, I am standing down this year. Brad Wagoner will be the new President of our wonderful Club. I wish him and the new Board every success for the future

We have a great program of meetings and trips planned for next year starting in September 2020. Details will be on our website soon – www.celebrationgardenclub.org

Once again thank you for supporting Garden Club and our community this year and have a wonderful summer wherever you choose to be!!
