Get out your digital device and update those calendars or maybe you are old school and prefer the version you can write on. Either way, it is going to be a busy few months as CROA closes out the year (dare we say, the upcoming holidays).
In addition to our monthly Food Truck on the 13th, September will also offer another Kid’s Night Out program. Be sure to stop by the Welcome to the Neighborhood event at Town Hall on the 26th from 6-8 p.m. Organized by CROA, Celebration Foundation and CCDD, the evening offers the opportunity to see what’s new, meet some old friends and perhaps make some new ones.
There is nothing frightful about October, but we do have some treats to look forward too. The Porch & Yard Sale takes place on the fifth and don’t forget the next installment of Food Truck Friday on the 11th. Be sure to stop by the monthly culinary feast and enjoy the soulful sax sounds of Don Black throughout the evening. On the 19th, help welcome in the ‘cooler’ weather with a costume contest, pumpkin patch, ‘corn’ maze, two performances by Off Kilter and much more at our annual Fall Fest. On the 25th residents are invited to do ‘The Time Warp’ with a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Celebration Community Field Complex. (This feature presentation is intended for mature audiences). Put on your costume and bring along some treats to enjoy, as we wrap up the month with another resident exclusive evening and the sing-a-long fun of dueling pianos on the Great Lawn on the 30th.
November will offer plenty of events to share good times with your friends and neighbors. On the eighth, be sure to stop by Food Truck Friday and catch a showing of the movie Small Foot. The following weekend we celebrate Founders Day, as we take a journey down the boardwalk. On the 15th residents are invited to Lakeside Park to take a ‘trip’ to their favorite seaside spot and enjoy the sights and sounds. Get a bird’s eye view of the community from the Ferris wheel (yes, you read that correctly), take a spin in the teacups or Cyclone Swing or try your hand at some classic games. Don’t forget the concert on the Great Lawn at 7:30 p.m., featuring The Atlantic City Boys! Your must have a valid CROA ID to attend.
The following day be sure to grab a prime viewing spot, or better yet, sign up to participate, in the Veterans/Founders Day parade at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the Veterans ceremony at Founders Park at 11 a.m. This moving ceremony is a tremendous way to support and thank the proud men and women who served our great nation. Smile! Following the Veterans ceremony, at noon, show us those pearly whites as we take the annual community photo in Founders Park. Light refreshments will also be served.
We wrap up November on the 22nd with a resident exclusive showing of Captain Marvel on the Great Lawn.
It’s December, the holidays are here and we’re ready! Start the month off with a holiday performance by the Celebration Community Chorus on the first.
On December 5, it’s the musical event of the year in the community, as CROA presents The Holiday Rock Orchestra on the Great Lawn. This holiday blend of sight and sound will be a gift for the senses. The concert is free to residents with a CROA ID. VIP tables with reserved seating are also available, with a table of eight available for $200 and a table of four available for $100. Tables can be purchased at Town Hall or online.
The following evening it’s time to take a trip ‘north.’ Well, not exactly, but ‘snow and ice’ will be the theme. CROA’S Holiday Fest will take place under the lights at Lakeside Park, as residents slip and slide down a snow slide, glide across an ice rink, encounter a 30 ft. tall snowman bounce house and of course, enjoy a visit with Santa Claus. This year’s holiday movie is a classic, so be sure to make some time to enjoy A Christmas Story.
We will close out the 2019 calendar with the December 13 Food Truck, where we welcome back once again, the Celebration High School jazz band for a holiday performance.
