The Osceola County School Board approved the following administrative appointments on June 24, 2025:
Monique Machado, Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Curriculum and Instruction
Monique Machado has held the following positions: Teacher and Director of Guidance at Somerset Academy (2001-2006); Teacher at Amelia Earhart Elementary (2006-2011); Lead Teacher, Director of Secondary School Guidance, and Assistant Principal of Somerset Academy (2011-2016); Assistant Principal and Principal at Ben Gamla Preparatory Charter (2016-2017); and Principal at SLAM! Osceola (2018-2023) and Kissimmee Middle (2023-present). She received her bachelor’s degree in Secondary School Guidance and Counseling from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Tammy Dery, Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Dr. Tammy Dery has held the following positions: District Mentor, Trainer, and Teacher at Dowdell Middle and Benito Middle in Hillsborough County Public Schools (1990-2006); District Resource Teacher in Federal Programs for Hillsborough County Public Schools (2006-2009); Supervisor in Professional Development and Supervisor for Middle School Mathematics for Hillsborough County Public Schools (2009-2018); Coordinator of K-12 Mathematics for the Osceola School District (2018-2020); Coordinator for K-12 Mathematics for Volusia County Public Schools (2020-2023); and Coordinator for School Improvement for the Osceola School District (2023-present). She received her bachelor’s degree in Science and Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Interdisciplinary Studies from National Louis University, and a doctorate degree in Leadership for Learning and Organizational Development from National Louis University.
Dr. Nigel Pillay, Principal of “AAA” High
Dr. Nigel Pillay has held the following positions: College Reach-Out Program Instructor at Seminole Community College (1999-2005); Teacher and Testing Coordinator at Millennium Middle (2001-2006); Instructional Coach at Lake Orienta Elementary School (2006-2007); Assistant Principal at the following schools: South Seminole Middle (2007-2010), R.T. Milwee Middle (2010-2011), Crooms Academy of Information Technology (2011-2012), and Pedro Menendez High (2007-2015); Board Member/Commissioner of the Education Practices Commission (2018-2022); and Principal at the following schools: Otis A. Mason Elementary (2015-2020), St. Johns Virtual (2020-2021), and St. Johns Technical High (2020-present). He received his bachelor’s degree in Math Education and a graduate certificate in Urban Education from the University of Central Florida; a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University; and a doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Florida.
Ashlee Langley, Principal of Highlands Elementary
Ashlee Langley has held the following positions: Teacher at Ventura Elementary (2006-2010); Teacher and Math/Science Coach at Hickory Tree Elementary (2010-2018); Math/Science Coach at Reedy Creek Elementary (2018-2021); District Resource Teacher for Elementary Curriculum and Instruction (2021); and Assistant Principal at Reedy Creek and Highlands Elementary (2021-present). She received her bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations, a master’s degree in Social Science Education, and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.
Seth Daub, Principal of Mill Creek Elementary
Seth Daub has held the following positions: Teacher and Curriculum Resource Teacher at Meadow Woods Elementary (2003-2007); Senior Administrator for Professional Development Services with Orange County Public Schools (2007-2009); Assistant Principal at Jones High (2009-2012); Principal at Castle Creek Elementary (2012-2016), Catalina Elementary (2016-2021), and Orange County Public Schools’ Academic Center for Excellence K-8 (2021-2023); and Senior Director of Program Operations and Teaching and Learning at the Pace Center for Girls (2023-2025). He received his teaching certificate in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.
Amanda DeRight, Principal of Central Avenue Elementary
Amanda DeRight has held the following positions: Teacher, MTSS Coach, Testing Coordinator, and Math/Science Coach at Kissimmee Elementary (2005-2014); Math Resource Teacher for the Osceola School District (2014-2020); and Assistant Principal at Central Avenue Elementary (2020-present). She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University and master’s degrees in Elementary Math and Reading from Walden University and Educational Leadership from American College of Education.
Marlenys Vargas-Ortiz, Assistant Principal of Hickory Tree Elementary
Marlenys Vargas-Ortiz has held the following positions: Dual Language Teacher at Boggy Creek Elementary (2010-2017); Teacher and AVID Coordinator at Neptune Elementary (2017-2020) and Canoe Creek K-8 (2020-2021); District Resource Teacher for the Multicultural Education Department (2021-2023); and Dean of Students at Narcoossee Middle (2023-present). She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Inter American University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.
Virnell Narine, Assistant Principal of Liberty High
Virnell Narine has held the following positions: Teacher, AVID Coordinator, and Dean of Students at Kissimmee Middle School (2018-present). She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.
Ben Johnston, Assistant Principal of Discovery Intermediate
Ben Johnston has held the following positions: Teacher at Highlands Elementary (2016-2018); Teacher, MTSS Coach, and Dean of Students at Bellalago Academy (2018-present); and Night Administrator at Osceola Technical College (2025). He received his bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the American Public University System and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University.
Yoldana Polanco, Assistant Principal of Cross Prairie K-8
Yoldana Polanco has held the following positions: Teacher at Mill Creek Elementary (2013-2019) and Dean of Students at Zenith Accelerated Learning Academy (2019-present). She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.
Breanna Wilkerson, Assistant Principal of Osceola High
Breanna Wilkerson has held the following positions: Teacher at Neptune Middle (2018-2022); MTSS Coach at Osceola High (2022-2023); and Math Coach at Osceola High (2023-2024) and Neptune Middle (2024-present). Erika Hare, Assistant Principal of Knights Point K-8

Fatemah Wright, Assistant Principal of Adult Learning Center Osceola
