Get ready to mark your calendars for the final leg of the annual 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on Friday, May 16. Join folks in Osceola County and run to support Special Olympics Florida!
What is the Law Enforcement Torch Run?
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an annual global fundraising and awareness campaign in support of the Special Olympics. Participants carry the “Flame of Hope” while running to raise funds and promote awareness for the Special Olympics movement.
In Florida, the run will pass through all 67 counties and include personnel from over 300 different law enforcement agencies. While the event is held across the U.S., the 2025 run in Florida will be a statewide effort, aiming to raise $4.5 million.
The event officially began on March 10, 2025, and will continue through May 16, 2025. It culminates with the final leg as the Guardians of the Flame deliver the Flame of Hope to Special Olympics Florida’s State Summer Games at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports. Final Leg Run Schedule on May 16
4:30 pm: Check in to participate in the run. At this time, the opening ceremonies will begin in the Celebration Town Center, 601 Market Street, Celebration, FL 34747.
5:15 pm: Dinner and program! Enjoy delectable cuisine before the run from ResQ BBQ.
7:00 pm: The run begins! Choose from three participation options:
- Escort: Assist with escorting the runner’s using motorcycles, marked cars, lights, and sirens.
- Run: Runners have a few options: Run the full 5.5-mile route from Celebration to ESPN Wide World of Sports or run part of the way and ride in a vehicle to ESPN. If you’d like to run the least amount, meet at the stadium and participate in the final stretch into the stadium (less than half a mile). Please arrive no later than 7:30 PM!
- Not Running? No problem! You can drive to the stadium, sit with the athletes and fans, and cheer as the torch arrives. Spectators can enter the stadium free of charge. The ceremony begins at 7:45 PM, so be sure to be seated by 7:30 PM.
8:00-8:15 pm: Runners and escorts arrive at ESPN Worldwide of Sports. Here folks can refresh and get back into formation to carry the torch into the stadium. And finally, join the community in celebration with a spectacular fireworks show and more!
