COVID-19 Community Update

Mar 12, 2020

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus that was first detected in China and which has now been detected in more than 100 locations internationally, including in the United States. The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”).

The Celebration Residential Owners Association (CROA) has been closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 through updates from the CDC, as well as the Florida Department of Health. In addition, CROA has been in contact with other community partners regarding this outbreak and potential impacts to members of the community.

While there are no confirmed cases in our area at this time, CROA believes that it is our role and responsibility to prioritize the health and well-being of our residents, while also playing a constructive role in supporting federal, state and local  health officials and government leaders as they work to contain the virus.

As a result and following the guidance of the CDC, effective, Friday, March 13 the following CROA sponsored events and partner programming will be temporarily suspended:

  • March 13 Food Truck Friday (cancelled)
  • March 13 Zach and James performance (cancelled, will be rescheduled if possible)
  • March 14 Art and Wine Stroll (cancelled)
  • March 25 Dueling Pianos event (will be rescheduled to later date)
  • Weekly Sunday Celebration Farmers Market (cancelled for month of March)
  • Through March 31, all programing, meetings, events and activities that occur in Town Hall (851 Celebration Ave.) The facility will remain open for CROA related business
  • All partner programming in or on CROA facilities; including: Jones Room, Heritage Hall and the Celebration Community Field Complex

In addition, CROA will be sanitizing and cleaning the equipment at the community playgrounds on a daily basis. Residents visiting the playgrounds are encouraged to take preemptive measures such as hand washing and hand sanitizing during and after visiting these amenities. Please be courteous to your neighbors, if you or your child is showing symptoms of an illness; please refrain from using the playgrounds at this time. Also, CROA will be sanitizing the equipment at the Spring Lake Fitness Center on a daily basis. Residents utilizing this amenity are asked to wipe down the equipment thoroughly following each use.

A decision regarding events and programs scheduled for April 1 and beyond, will be made on or prior to March 31.

CROA offices at Town Hall, 851 Celebration Ave., will continue normal operating hours, Monday-Friday: 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. In addition, our community partner, AdventHealth has launched a “Coronavirus Information Line (877-847-8747),” which is a free phone service available to all residents in the community.
