Navigating Roads Safely: Teen Driver Challenge Program

By Sheriff Marcos Lopez

Osceola County Sheriff’s Office

As Sheriff, I have dedicated my career to protecting and serving our community. One of the most critical aspects of that mission is ensuring the safety of our roads. Every day, our streets are bustling with activity, and as our young drivers take to the wheel, they must have the skills and knowledge to navigate them safely.

The Teen Driver Challenge program is an initiative that focuses on more than teaching teens to drive; it is about instilling a sense of responsibility and respect for the rules of the road. It is an advanced driving course designed to provide young drivers with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to reduce the chances of being involved in a crash.

The Teen Driver Challenge is designed to equip our young drivers with the tools to make sound decisions behind the wheel. Through classroom instructions and hands-on training, participants learn driving techniques, hazard recognition, and the importance of using their senses to stay focused while driving.

The program is free to all teens between 15 and 19 years old. The location for the training is Osceola County Sheriff’s Office – Training Facility at 3901 Arthur J Gallagher Blvd. St. Cloud, FL 34772. The availability for classes in April is the following:

Saturday, April 6, from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Saturday, April 20, from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

To the parents and guardians of our young drivers, I urge you to consider enrolling your teen in the Teen Driver Challenge program. It is an investment in their safety and that of everyone on the road. Let’s continue working together to make our streets safer for everyone.
