In anticipation of the events occurring in Celebration as part of the Independence Day Spectacular event, the following traffic initiatives will be in place to assist residents and ensure an enjoyable experience.
On Saturday, July 1, beginning at 10 p.m., vehicle access to the Town Center area will be restricted as roadways will close for the July 2 Farmers Market. The roads will remain closed after the conclusion of the Farmers Market. The morning of Monday, July 3, staff will begin preparations for July 4 events. Road closure signs will be in place at Market Street & Celebration Avenue; Front Street & Sycamore Street; Bloom Street near Celebration Hotel and the Front Street and Bloom Street intersection. These roadways will remain closed until the morning of Wednesday, July 5.
On Tuesday morning, July 4, the annual parade through town will begin at 9 a.m. The route will commence at Town Hall (851 Celebration Avenue) and will travel on Celebration Avenue, turning right onto Market Street, left onto Front Street and eventually ending at the corner of Sycamore and Front. Deputies of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will be stationed at Water Street & Celebration Avenue, Starling Drive & Celebration Avenue, Starling Drive & Greenbrier Avenue, and Westpark Drive and Celebration Avenue. During the parade processional, drivers will be detoured onto Westpark Drive or Water Street as an alternate route. Celebration Avenue & Starling Drive will reopen to traffic immediately following the parade. The morning of the parade, Starling Drive will be closed for parade participant staging. Starling Drive will close at 7am. Residents living who live on Starling Drive, Nadina Place, Trumpet Place, or Canne Place will need to enter or exit their street from Westpark Drive the morning of the parade until the parade sets off and Starling Drive is clear.
On Tuesday evening, the downtown event will officially open beginning at 5 p.m. A park and ride service will also be in effect beginning at 4 p.m. Patrons may park their vehicles at 215 Celebration Place and take a free shuttle to the K-8 school and back. Buses will have access to the bus loop via Campus Street. The park and ride will run until 11 p.m.
Deputies of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will be patrolling throughout Town Center during the event. Deputies will also be taking up posts at a number of intersections to assist with traffic flow, especially following the event.
Deputies will be positioned at the following locations to assist with an orderly and safe exit following the event: Waterside Drive & Celebration Boulevard; Waterside Drive & Celebration Avenue; Campus Street & Celebration Boulevard (near the library); Campus Street & Celebration Avenue; Golfpark Drive & Celebration Avenue; Celebration Avenue & SR 417; Sycamore Avenue & Celebration Avenue; Celebration Avenue and Celebration Place (Water Tower Shoppes entrance); and East Lawn & Celebration Avenue. Several no parking and directional signage will also be in place to assist with the flow of traffic.
In addition, Campus Street between Greenbrier and Mulberry will be restricted to local traffic only. Also, beginning at 5 p.m. on July 4, the intersection of Campus and Celebration Avenue will see a Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputy stationed there to monitor traffic flow, as access to Campus (eastbound) will be restricted to Town Center residents and hotel guests. Residents will be asked to produce a driver’s license indicating their place of residence.
For those residents and their guests who will be exiting Main Village, drivers are encouraged to exit by utilizing Celebration Avenue towards SR 417 or Golfpark Drive to Campus Street.
For those residents and their guests who will be exiting East, West or South Village, drivers are encouraged to take Waterside Drive to Celebration Boulevard for access to I4, 192 or other roadways.
For those residents and their guests who will be exiting North Village, drivers are encouraged to go right onto Celebration Ave., away from Town Center.
Where possible, residents are encouraged to walk to the downtown festivities or carpool if driving is necessary.
Adjustments will be made throughout the evening if necessary, in order to ensure a safe, festive and close to hassle free event as possible.
