Parade, food, music and fireworks to highlight Star Spangled Spectacular

Sep 22, 2022

It may be April, but soon the weather will be hotter than a firecracker on the fourth of July.

Planning is well underway for one the highest profile days of the year, as Celebration gets set to make July 4…..what else, a celebration.

From large cities to small towns and everywhere in between, there is no better way to start Independence Day than a parade. Whether it’s Main Street in any town U.S.A. or Main Street U.S.A, or in our case Celebration Avenue, patriotic parades will be on full display. Best of all, you don’t have to wait for the 3 o’clock parade.

Residents, local civic organizations, school groups and sports leagues are invited to participate in this year’s march. Applications will be available beginning this month, so be sure to check out the website or contact Town Hall to get in on the fun.

Later in the day, the excitement shifts to Town Center for food, fun, music and fireworks.

Officially kicking off at 4 p.m., the live music kicks in at 4:30 p.m. when John Frinzi and Friends take to the stage.

A gifted singer and songwriter, Frinzi has built an audience through craft and originality.  An early demo caught the ear of legendary steel guitarist and longtime Coral Reefer Band member Doyle Grisham, and their working relationship led to John’s first CD, “Into The Dawn.” His second album, “Shoreline,” showcases Frinzi’s versatility as a songwriter and vocalist with many of the songs co-written by Tom Corcoran, co-writer of the Jimmy Buffett classics, “Fins,” and “Cuban Crime of Passion.” Both CDs remain in regular rotation on Sirius/XM’s Radio Margaritaville.

Most recently, John teamed up with multi-platinum Songwriter and Producer Aaron Scherz on their singles “Summer Sun” and “Lyin’ or Lucky” which, in addition to being fan favorites on Sirius/XM, are included on their new album “Blue Sky View.” A seasoned live performer, Frinzi has toured nationally playing over 250 dates a year and has been featured at major festivals including the Keith Sykes Songwriters Celebration, Key West Songwriters Festival, Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival and has shared the stage with acclaimed artists including Jesse Winchester, Mac McAnally, The Coral Reefer Band, Todd Snider and Maria Muldaur.

At 7:30 p.m., we pay tribute to those rocking stadium bands that will surely have everyone signing at the top of their lungs with Scarab…The Journey Experience.

Founded in 2010, Scarab…The Journey Experience, has become the biggest touring tribute to Journey in the nation. The closest re-creation you will see to the super group of the 70’s and 80’s. An absolutely dynamic stage show with live four part harmonies that other groups could only dream of doing. The Internationally touring tribute act performs a concert with all the sights, sounds and of course, the songs that made Journey famous the world over. Be sure to grab a prime spot and experience what hundreds of thousands of fans all over the country are raving about.

Of course, no celebration honoring our nation would be complete without a pyrotechnic display. The skies over Celebration will be illuminated with one of the area’s brightest and best displays, which is being presented thanks to a sponsorship from Lexin Celebration Commercial, LLC. The painting of the night sky is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.

Many of the dining establishments in Town Center will be setting up shop outside their locations, offering many crowd favorites and ice-cold beverages in order to make enjoying the event, which concludes at 10 p.m., more convenient for everyone.
